Even then, you’ll probably be able to see it from space. Latest news is the excellent Project 50 from Porsche GB to run an original short wheelbase 1965 911 in selected Mastered Series races this season.
Just like the Porsche Cup Guest Car, there will be a variety of high profile drivers, with the bar being set by the legendary Richard Attwood initially, followed throughout the season by other surprise guest drivers. I think a safe bet might be a certain Walter may be taking a turn at some point, though I can’t help but think that some modern names should be taking a turn too. A certain Frenchman with nine world rally championships would probably relish the chance to display his versatility should he be able to get behind the wheel.
The car is an original 1965 2.0 litre car developing 130bhp. Though it’s a right hand drive car, it was first delivered to Italy, rather oddly, before spending time in America. It was imported to the UK in the late 1990’s and was built into an FIA Appendix K car by an ‘established historic Porsche motorsport company’.
Before it’s first race, he car is headed for the Porsche Classic workshops near Stuttgart. Team Project 50 is being run by the same motorsport team responsible for Porsche Cup in the UK, so expect high standards of preparation. The retro colour scheme with black and red centre stripes and Porsche decals on the lower doors looks super cool to me. I’m looking forward to seeing some skilful drivers extract the best out of it this season.
